We’ve been covering a lot of slow cooker meals, but this week I’m turning my attention to the oven as I give you my recipe for one of my favorite pizzas- chicken bbq! We really beefed it up this time with some fresh onion and green pepper from our family friend’s farm! Veggies just taste better when you know the people who grew them, right?
Chicken bbq pizza
Ingredients:
Crust:
2 1/5 C Flour
1 tbs baking powder
1 C Milk
1/4 C Butter
1/2 tbs onion powder
1/2 tbs garlic powder
Toppings we love:
BBQ sauce of choice (enough to coat your dough 1/2 C give or take)
2 Cups chicken, cooked and diced or shredded. About 1-2 breasts depending on size
1 green pepper, diced or sliced
1/2 small red onion
1-2 cups shredded cheese, we used Colby buy of course mozzarella or whatever cheese you prefer would be great. We love all cheese equally here! 😉
Directions:
1. Mix all crust ingredients together except for 1/5 C of flour. After all ingredients are incorporated, slowly add flour a tablespoon or so at a time until smooth ball forms. This crust is amazing because there’s no time to let it sit. You can press it into a greased pizza pan as soon as it’s mixed and smooth. Work slowly so that the dough will move with your hands without ripping too much, you can always to back and pinch together any holes you’ve made while pressing.
2. Spread sauce onto crust, top with cheese chicken and whatever else you want on your pizza! There are almost no rules for chicken BBQ pizza! It just has to taste good!
3. Bake for 12 minutes at 450 degrees Fahrenheit. Allow it to cool slightly. Fresh out of the oven the crust is a little flimsy. You will probably need to eat this with a fork, but it’s so worth it!
This crust recipe will make one large thick crust pizza or two medium thin-crust pizzas.
Until next time friends!
